Checklists for the Various "Rigs"
I recommend using climb-spec webbing for everything since it has a 4200lb / 18.7kN tnesion rating (versus 3800lbs / 16.9kN for mil-spec), and it is much smoother which can help reduce abrasion. It is slightly heavier though, which can affect line feel.
The Primitive Setup
To have a complete 3:1 M.A. rig, you will need the following:
3 x Wire-Gate Oval 'Biners (~24kN)
2 x 25ft Lengths of Webbing for Slings (35ft recommended)
75ft or more of webbing for the main line. This can work for lines ~55ft in length.
If you want to increase the M.A. to 5:1 you will need:
1 Additional Wire-Gate Oval 'Biner (~24kN)
If you want to increase the M.A. to 7:1 you will need:
3 Additional Wire-Gate Oval 'Biners (~24kN)
Furthermore, if you wish to use line lockers for the slings and main line, you need:
2 x 1.75" Outside Diameter Rap-Rings
4 x Heaxy Duty Chain Links (or Rap-Rings). Be sure to file sharp edges off of the links.
Keep in mind that the M.A. proposed here is only theoretical. Due to the webbing friction, the M.A. is actually significantly less. The 7:1 M.A. is more likely around 3:1 in paractice for longer lines at higher tensions.
Slackline Brothers Pulley System
If you want the simple 4:1 or 5:1 M.A. system, acquire the following:
1 x Slackline Brothers Pulley Pair
50ft of 11mm static rope (climb rated) for lines up to 140ft.
4 x Wire-Gate Oval 'Biners (~24kN)
2 x 25ft Lengths of Webbing for Slings (35ft recommended)
75ft or more of webbing for the main line (150ft recommended)
Furthermore, if you wish to use line lockers for the slings and main line, you need:
2 x 1.75" Outside Diameter Rap-Rings
4 x Heaxy Duty Chain Links (or Rap-Rings). Be sure to file sharp edges off of the links.
Should you wish to double the M.A. to 8:1 of 10:1, you will need one of the following:
4ft of Prusik Cord AND 1 Extra 'Biner
OR 1 Tibloc AND 1 Extra 'Biner
OR 1 Ascender and 1 Extra 'Biner
The M.A. for this is much closer to the theoretical value for this rig. Frictional losses are greatly reduced with the use of pulleys.
